To reach a target CGPA T with C credits completed at CGPA G and
R credits remaining, the average you need across those remaining credits is:
Required = (T × (C + R) − G × C) ÷ R
If the required average exceeds the maximum on your scale, the target is arithmetically impossible in the credits you have left, no amount of effort changes that. This tool says so plainly instead of displaying an encouraging but meaningless number. It also shows your best possible finishing CGPA, which is usually the more useful figure at that point.
On the German 1.0–5.0 scale, "improving" means moving down. This planner detects the direction of your grading system and applies the comparison correctly, so a required average of 1.5 is reported as demanding rather than as an error.
