Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in the UK
A deadline shown here is a research aid. The provider's current call controls the real deadline.
The double application is where most Pakistani candidates lose this one. Meeting the CSC criteria means nothing if the HEC nomination is missed, and HEC's deadline is usually the earlier of the two.
| Academic | A first-class bachelor's degree with 16 years of education for master's entry, or a first-class MS/MPhil with 17 to 18 years for PhD entry. |
| Language | Set by the receiving UK university rather than by the CSC. |
| Other | Pakistani or AJ&K nationality and permanent residence. Dual nationals are not eligible. Applicants must demonstrate financial need, and a second master's is not normally funded. |
The CSC does not accept direct applications. Pakistani candidates apply twice: once on the CSC online portal and once through HEC, which is the nominating agency. Missing either one is a disqualification. HEC shortlists and interviews, then forwards nominations, and the CSC makes the final choice.
We keep past cycles rather than deleting them. Historical dates are the best predictor of when the next call opens.
| Year | Status | Opens | Deadline | Note |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2026/2027 | Closed | — | — | The HEC nomination round for this cycle has closed. HEC has previously advertised a fixed number of nominations split between master's and PhD, with its portal deadline in October. |
| 2027/2028 | Expected | — | — | The pattern has been an autumn call. HEC shortlists over December and January, then CSC makes its final selection in spring. HEC publishes its own deadline on hec.gov.pk and it is the binding one for Pakistani applicants. |
