FAST-NUCES is Pakistan's leading computing-focused university, with campuses in Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar, Chiniot-Faisalabad and Multan. Its defining quirk is that grading mode is set per course, not per university: your instructor announces whether a course is graded absolutely or relatively in the course outline at the start of the semester.
The table runs to 12 grades. Below D (1 point) there are no points. Its band opens at 50 to 53%. With this many tiers, the difference between two adjacent letters is small enough that rounding matters. Administrative codes split two ways. FA counts as zero in the average, while I is left out of the calculation entirely.
This percentage is derived, and derivation is not the same as policy. Multiplying CGPA by 25 (estimate only) rescales a 4-point figure. Treat the result as an estimate. No FAST-issued conversion formula was found.
These are the rules that matter once you are past the table. The graduation floor is set at 2.00. A+ and A grade points runs to Both 4.00 (A+ is recognition only, no GPA advantage). Dean's List requires Semester GPA 3.67 or above.
The table starts the conversation. The registrar ends it. It is the final year where that order does real damage or real good.
| Grading mode | Mixed — absolute or relative, declared per course |
| GPA scale | 0.00 – 4.00 |
| A+ and A grade points | Both 4.00 (A+ is recognition only, no GPA advantage) |
| Minimum CGPA to graduate | 2.00 |
| Dean's List | Semester GPA 3.67 or above |
| Campuses sharing this policy | Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar, Chiniot-Faisalabad, Multan |
| CGPA → percentage status | Estimate / normalization only |
FAST-NUCES calculates SGPA and CGPA as credit-weighted averages. Its official page states that repeat courses use only the most recent grade points, even if the later grade is lower. A+ and A both carry 4.00 points in the current scale.
| Grade | Points | Marks | Meaning |
|---|---|---|---|

| D+ | 1.33 | 54–57% | Pass |
| D | 1.00 | 50–53% | Minimum Pass |
| F | 0.00 | 0–49% | Fail |
| Code | How it is treated |
|---|---|
| FA | Fail due to attendance shortage — counts as 0.00 in the GPA |
| I | Incomplete — excluded from GPA |
| W | Withdrawn — excluded from GPA |
| CR | Continuing Research — excluded from GPA |
No. A+ and A are both worth exactly 4.00 grade points at FAST. A+ appears on the transcript as recognition of outstanding performance but gives no numerical advantage.
Your instructor is required to state the grading scheme in the course outline distributed at the start of the semester. If it is not stated, ask. It materially changes what a given percentage will earn you.
FA is a fail awarded for attendance shortage. It carries 0.00 grade points and counts in your GPA exactly like an F.
Yes. All six campuses follow the same university-wide grading and academic-warning policy. Only the relative curve differs, because that depends on the specific students in your classroom.
