UoK marks to a fixed table. A+ needs 90% and above, and that threshold does not move with the strength of your cohort. Karachi, 1951.
12 grades sit on the scale. At the bottom of the scoring range sits D (1 point), reached at 50 to 52%. A W is simply absent from the average.
This percentage is derived, and derivation is not the same as policy. A CGPA times 25 (mathematical normalization; not an official university conversion formula) gives a percentage-shaped number. That number is an estimate. With this many tiers, the difference between two adjacent letters is small enough that rounding matters. No UoK-issued conversion formula was found.
Rules move from one intake to the next. If your transcript disagrees with the 12-grade table above, your transcript wins, and we would rather re-read the source than argue with it.

The 2026 University of Karachi prospectus gives the numeric score, letter grade and grade-point table, and defines CGPR as total grade points divided by total credit hours. It states minimum degree CGPR thresholds of 2.2 or 2.45 depending on the degree programme. School of Law is excluded from the general table and should be treated separately.

Multiply each course grade point by its credit hours, add the quality points, and divide by the relevant total credit hours, subject to the university rules.
Only if UoK says so in writing, and we have found no such statement. Where a percentage is required, the examination office issues one. The source document is linked at the top of this page if you want to read the original wording.
Because the UoK scale is not the same as anyone else's, and using the wrong grade points quietly produces the wrong CGPA. We took it from the regulation cited above rather than a third-party summary.
