The official grade-to-point mapping, how it is applied, and where it comes from.
Hungary uses a five-point scale where 5 is best and 1 is a fail. Hungarian institutions typically report both a simple average (átlag) and a credit-weighted index (kreditindex).
Conversion shown: Average × 20 (normalization estimate)

|---|---|---|
| 5 | 5.00 | Jeles — Excellent |
| 4 | 4.00 | Jó — Good |
| 3 | 3.00 | Közepes — Satisfactory |
| 2 | 2.00 | Elégséges — Pass |
| 1 | 1.00 | Elégtelen — Fail |
| Grading scale | 1 – 5, where 5 is best and 1 is a fail |

| Credit system | ECTS |
| Main funding route | Stipendium Hungaricum |
| CGPA → percentage status | Estimate / normalization only |
There is no official mapping. Institutions receiving your transcript will usually apply their own conversion, and credential evaluators often use the modified Bavarian formula. Report your Hungarian average as-is and let the receiving institution convert it.
