University of Delhi CBCS 10-Point Scale

CRITICAL: which multiplier applies depends on your batch. Students admitted under CBCS (pre-2023) use CGPA x 9.5, per DU Letter No. E.C. 20-21.07.2019 dated 18.10.2019. Students under the NEP / UGCF 2022 framework (2023 onward) commonly use CGPA x 10. Using the wrong one can misstate your percentage by up to 5 points. A perfect 10.0 CGPA equals 95% under CBCS, not 100%.

Conversion category: Official context, limited purpose

Conversion shown: CGPA × 9.5 (CBCS context; verify batch/programme)

Conversion note: University of Delhi materials explicitly publish CGPA × 9.5 for the applicable CBCS context. Newer NEP/UGCF programmes may use different rules.

Alternative in use: CGPA x 10 (NEP / UGCF 2022 batches, 2023 onward), check which one your application requires.

Questions students ask

Does a 10.0 CGPA mean 100%?

Not under CBCS. Using the official x 9.5 multiplier, a perfect 10.0 CGPA converts to 95%, not 100%. This routinely confuses both students and recruiters. If your department publishes something different, that version governs your transcript.

Which multiplier applies to me?

If you were admitted before 2023 under CBCS, use x 9.5. If you were admitted from 2023 onward under the NEP / UGCF 2022 framework, x 10 is commonly applied. Confirm with your college's examination branch, and choosing wrongly can shift your stated percentage by around 5 points.
